For over 100 years, SKS has been a quality manufacturer in the bicycle industry, keeping bikes rolling. The company's history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany started producing curtain rods. In 1932, the business was purchased by Wilhelm Blome, who also acquired a tire inflator company, inspiring him to begin manufacturing metal pumps.
Now known as a pump and bicycle fender manufacturer, SKS also produces a range of accessories for bikes, including pumps, fenders, bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and phone holders. All SKS items are designed and manufactured in Sundern, Germany, and the company is committed to continually innovating and producing the highest quality cycling accessories.
Employing 400 people at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern and over 700 across its three divisions, SKS Germany generates significant output annually. 43% of its bicycle business comes from aftermarket product sales, while 32% is OEM. This includes the production of 4.5 million full fenders, 2 million clip-on fenders, and 1.2 million bicycle pumps – over 18,000 fenders and 3,200 pumps per day.
In 2022, SKS revamped its full fender line, replacing the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. Made from the same chromoplastic material, the Bluemels now feature black hardware and are available in more sizes. The Bluemels Style fenders have a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear.
As a leader in clip-on fender options, SKS continues to provide a full line of commuting essentials for all types of riders, including e-bikes, all manufactured in Germany. This comprehensive range includes fenders, floor pumps, mini pumps, air pressure gauges, bike bags and racks, phone holders, tools, and bottles, cages, and adapters.
The SKS EXPLORER STRAPS seatpack exemplifies the brand's commitment to quality and rider-focused design. Constructed with durable, water-repellent fabrics to resist rainwater and dirt, the seatpack features laminated zip protection, an ergonomic EASYZIP slider, a bright orange interior lining, and reflective detailing – ensuring cyclists can ride comfortably and confidently, no matter the weather.
