SKS, a renowned manufacturer in the bicycle industry, has been keeping bikes rolling for more than 100 years. The company's history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany started producing curtain rods. In 1932, the business was acquired by Wilhelm Blome, who also purchased a tire inflator company, inspiring him to venture into the manufacturing of metal pumps.

Today, SKS is widely recognized as a leading manufacturer of bicycle pumps, fenders, and a wide range of cycling accessories, including bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and even phone holders. All SKS products are designed and manufactured in Sundern, Germany, with a commitment to innovation and delivering the highest quality cycling accessories.

The Future is Orange

SKS Germany employs a workforce of 400 people at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern, with a total of over 700 employees across its three combined divisions. The company's bicycle business comprises 43% in aftermarket product sales and 32% in original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products.

Annually, SKS Germany produces an impressive 4.5 million full fenders, 2 million clip-on fenders, and 1.2 million bicycle pumps, equating to over 18,000 fenders and 3,200 pumps per day.

Revamping the Classics

In 2022, SKS revamped its full fender line, replacing the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II full fenders with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. Both models are crafted using the same chromoplastic fender material, but the Bluemels now feature black hardware and are available in a wider range of sizes.

The Bluemels Style fenders boast a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender. Additionally, SKS Germany continues to be a leader in clip-on fender options, catering to the needs of diverse riders, including those with e-bikes.

The company's product portfolio includes fenders, floor pumps, mini pumps, air pressure gauges, bike bags and racks, phone holders, tools, bottles, cages, and adapters – all made in Germany.

The SKS Bluemels 20" and 24" fender sets come with a safety break-away feature (ESC) that allows the mounts to uncouple from the Stay if debris were to get caught between the tire and fender, ensuring rider safety.
