The company's journey began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany started producing curtain rods. In 1932, the business was acquired by Wilhelm Blome, who also purchased a tire inflator company, inspiring him to venture into the manufacturing of metal pumps.

SKS Germany employs a workforce of 400 at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern, with a total of over 700 employees across its three combined divisions. The company's bicycle business is evenly split between aftermarket product sales (43%) and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) product supply (32%).

Remarkably, SKS Germany's production capabilities are truly impressive. Annually, the company manufactures 4.5 million full fenders, 2 million clip-on fenders, and 1.2 million bicycle pumps, amounting to an astounding 18,000 fenders and 3,200 pumps per day.

Revamping the Classics: Introducing the Bluemels and Bluemels Style

In 2022, SKS undertook a revamp of its full fender line, replacing the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II models with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. While both models are crafted from the same chromoplastic fender material, the Bluemels now feature black hardware and are available in a wider range of sizes.

The Bluemels Style fenders, on the other hand, boast a distinctive square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender. SKS Germany continues to be a leader in the clip-on fender market, offering a comprehensive range of options to suit every cyclist's needs.
