The company's history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany started manufacturing curtain rods. SKS Germany employs 400 people at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern, and over 700 employees across its three combined divisions. The company's bicycle business is split between aftermarket product sales (43%) and OEM product (32%). In 2022, SKS revamped its full fender line with the introduction of the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders, which replaced the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II models. Both new fenders are made using the same chromoplastic material, but the Bluemels now feature black hardware and are available in more sizes. The Bluemels Style fenders boast a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender.
SKS continues to be a leader in clip-on fender options, offering a full line of commuting essentials for every type of rider, including e-bikes, all made in Germany. The company's product range includes fenders, floor pumps, mini pumps, air pressure gauges, bike bags and racks, phone holders, tools, bottles, cages, and adapters.
One of SKS's standout products is the Digital Pressure Gauge, which features a solid metal tube, a rubberized, non-slip aluminum base, folding feet, a removable beechwood handle, and an MV EASY Pump Head that works with Presta, Dunlop, and Schrader valves. With a 1200mm hose length and a maximum pressure of 230 PSI (16 bar), this gauge is designed to help riders stay dry and ride comfortably, no matter what.
