SKS is a quality manufacturer in the bicycle industry, having been keeping bikes rolling for over 100 years. The company's history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany started manufacturing curtain rods. In 1932, the company was purchased by Wilhelm Blome, who also acquired a tire inflator company, inspiring him to begin manufacturing metal pumps.

Today, SKS is known as a pump and bicycle fender manufacturer, as well as a producer of accessories for bikes, including pumps, fenders, bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and even phone holders. All SKS items are still designed and manufactured in Sundern, Germany, and the company is committed to continuing to innovate and produce the highest quality cycling accessories for years to come.

The Future is Orange: SKS Germany's Bicycle Business

SKS Germany employs 400 people at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern, and over 700 employees across its three combined divisions. The company's bicycle business is divided, with 43% of sales coming from aftermarket product sales and 32% from OEM products.

Annually, SKS Germany produces 4.5 million full fenders, 2 million clip-on fenders, and 1.2 million bicycle pumps. This equates to over 18,000 fenders per day and 3,200 pumps per day.

Revamping the Classics: The New Bluemels and Bluemels Style Fenders

In 2022, SKS revamped its full fender line, replacing the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II full fenders with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. Both models are made using the same chromoplastic fender material, but the Bluemels now come with black hardware and are available in more sizes than before.

The Bluemels Style fenders feature a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and come with a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender.

SKS has a full line of commuting essentials for every type of rider, including fenders, floor pumps, mini pumps, air pressure gauges, bike bags and racks, phone holders, tools, bottles, cages, and adapters. All of these products are made in Germany, ensuring high quality and durability.

One of SKS's newest products is a 16oz (.5 litre) refillable water bottle made from soft, low-density material for easy squeezing. The bottle is SKS Germany branded and features a large mouth for ice and cleaning, as well as a screw-top design. It is also BPA-free and certified by EU standards.
