The company's history dates back to 1921, when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany, began manufacturing curtain rods. In 1932, the company was purchased by Wilhelm Blome, who also acquired a tire inflator company, inspiring him to start producing metal pumps.
Today, SKS is renowned for its production of bicycle pumps, fenders, and a wide range of cycling accessories, including bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and even phone holders. All SKS products are designed and manufactured in Sundern, Germany, ensuring the highest quality standards.
The Future is Orange
SKS Germany employs 400 people at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern and over 700 employees across its three combined divisions. The company's bicycle business comprises 43% aftermarket product sales and 32% OEM product sales.
Annually, SKS Germany produces 4.5 million full fenders, 2 million clip-on fenders, and 1.2 million bicycle pumps, totaling over 18,000 fenders and 3,200 pumps per day.
Revamping the Classics
In 2022, SKS revamped its full fender line, replacing the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II fenders with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. Both models are made using the same chromoplastic material, but the Bluemels now feature black hardware and are available in more sizes than before.
The Bluemels Style fenders boast a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender.
