SKS, a prominent manufacturer in the bicycle industry, has been keeping bikes rolling for over 100 years. The company's history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany, commenced the production of curtain rods. In 1932, the company was acquired by Wilhelm Blome, who also purchased a tire inflator company, inspiring him to commence the manufacture of metal pumps.

Today, SKS is renowned for its production of bicycle pumps, fenders, and a wide range of accessories, including bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and even phone holders. All SKS items are still designed and manufactured in Sundern, Germany, ensuring the company's commitment to innovation and the production of the highest-quality cycling accessories for years to come.

The Future is Orange

SKS Germany employs a workforce of 400 individuals at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern, with over 700 employees across its three combined divisions. The company's bicycle business is comprised of 43% aftermarket product sales and 32% OEM product. Annually, SKS Germany produces 4.5 million full fenders, 2 million clip-on fenders, and 1.2 million bicycle pumps, totaling over 18,000 fenders per day and 3,200 pumps per day.

Revamping the Classics

In 2022, SKS revamped its full fender line, replacing the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II full fenders with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. Both models are crafted using the same chromoplastic fender material, but the Bluemels now feature black hardware and are available in a wider range of sizes. The Bluemels Style fenders boast a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender.

Moreover, SKS Germany continues to be a leader in clip-on fender options, ensuring that riders can stay dry and comfortable, regardless of the weather conditions.

SKS offers a comprehensive range of commuting essentials for every type of rider, including e-bikes, all of which are manufactured in Germany. The company's product portfolio includes fenders, floor pumps, mini pumps, air pressure gauges, bike bags and racks, phone holders, tools, bottles, cages, and adapters. Additionally, SKS provides an optional mounting kit for its Velo series fenders, allowing for secure attachment to the eyelet holes of the frame or fork, with a break-away safety stay feature for the Velo 65 fenders.
