The company's history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany started manufacturing curtain rods. In 1932, the company was acquired by Wilhelm Blome, who also purchased a tire inflator company, inspiring him to begin producing metal pumps.

Today, SKS is recognized as a leading manufacturer of pumps, bicycle fenders, and a wide range of accessories, including bike pumps, fenders, bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and even phone holders. The Future is Orange SKS Germany employs 400 people at its bicycle headquarters in Sundern and an additional 700 employees across its three combined divisions. The company's bicycle business is divided, with 43% of sales coming from aftermarket product sales and 32% from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) products.

Annually, SKS Germany produces an impressive 4.5 million full fenders, 2 million clip-on fenders, and 1.2 million bicycle pumps, totaling over 18,000 fenders per day and 3,200 pumps per day.

Revamping the Classics In 2022, SKS revamped its full fender line, replacing the classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II full fenders with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. Both models are made using the same chromoplastic fender material, but the Bluemels now come with black hardware and are available in more sizes than before. The Bluemels Style fenders feature a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and come with a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender.
