When selecting a fender, it is important to consider the wheel size and tire width. The fender size is determined by the wheel and tire measurements, which can be found on the tire wall. Road bikes and urban bikes typically have 700c or 28" wheels, while mountain bikes are usually 29" (29er) or 27.5" or 26". Smaller wheels are 20" or 24".

The fender profile needs to be at least 5mm wider than the tire. SKS Germany fender profiles are named according to their width (e.g., B55 is 55mm wide). It is crucial to ensure that the fender profile can fit through the frame, as it should not be wider than the distance between the seat stays or fork legs.

Bluemels fenders are bolt-on, which means they are not easily or quickly removed once installed. However, they offer more coverage and stability as they are affixed to the frame with bolts. In contrast, quick-release fenders have a completely different setup.

Mounting eyelets or frame/fork mounting clamps are required for the installation of Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders. If your bike doesn't have mounting eyelets, the clamps can be purchased separately. The metal stays that are part of the Bluemels fender mounting setup may need to be shortened for a proper fit.

All the necessary hardware for mounting the Bluemels fenders is included, but you will need a 7 and 8mm wrench and a 4mm allen key. If the stays need to be shortened, you will also need a measuring tape and a hacksaw or bolt cutters. The installation process typically takes around two hours and requires basic mechanical experience.

Bluemels fenders feature a safety release system for the front fender, which allows the struts/stays to be easily uncoupled if branches or other debris become caught between the tire and the fender. The Bluemels fender sets are available for 20", 24", 26", and 700c/28"/29er wheel sizes.

The Bluemels fender sets include mounting hardware, instructions, and a sliding bridge clip for the rear fender. Mudflaps can be added to extend the fender profile coverage, but a hole will need to be drilled in the fender profile.
